Tonight concludes the Round Robin tournament to crown the first Open The United Gate champions. As it stands, Ronin and World-1 have gone undefeated and earned four points a piece. The two Blood Warriors teams lost all of their matches and have zero points. Ronin will take on World-1 and both Blood Warriors teams are scheduled to face each other. We’ll see how that all shakes down later on.

Rich Swann vs. Brodie Lee

Swann kills time by confidently maneuvering around. He evades a lock-up and steals the bandana out of Lee’s pocket. Swann mocks him with some dancing. Swann laughs as he avoids more attacks. Lee nails him with a superkick. Lee hits a delayed vertcial suplex for two. Lee stands on Swann’s chest. He delivers a butterfly suplex and a shotgun lariat for two. Swann side steps a big boot. He blocks the Truck Stop and a suplex. Swann kicks Lee’s legs and slaps him multiple times. Swann fails a suplex, so he hits a tornado kick and a Rolling Thunder for two. Lee hits the Truck Stop for the pin at 4:55. Swann being sneaky didn’t make him like a complete goof in this glorified squash, but the choice to squash him is still perplexing. *

The Blood Warriors all come out to congratulate Lee. CIMA takes a picture of Swann laid out on the mat and instructs Lee to give him a Running Liger Bomb. Johnny Gargano and Chuck Taylor come out but the Blood Warriors keep them at bay. Lee tosses Swann onto them. Ricochet says that since Blood Warriors are family, they will not fight each other in tonight’s scheduled tag team match. Instead, they will take the night off and rest. Jimmy Jacobs makes his way out. Jacobs says he challenged any Japanese talent to face him tonight, and since none of the Blood Warriors took him up on his challenge, he hypothesizes that they are all scared of him. Ricochet makes a challenge for Jacobs to find three partners to take on him, Naruki Doi, Dragon Kid and CIMA in an eight man tag later tonight. CIMA says Jacobs has zero friends to recruit, but Jacobs accepts the challenge anyway.

AR Fox vs. Cheech Hernandez

Fox nails a dropkick. He O’Conner rolls Cheech for two. Cheech sweeps his legs for two and applies a bodyscissors. Cheech does sit-up elbow strikes and rolls into a Gedo clutch for two. Cheech poses after putting Fox in a cloverleaf. Cheech breaks and sunset flips Fox for two. He dropkicks Fox in the back of the head and drops him with an STO for two. Fox responds with a bulldog. Cheech rolls him up for two. Fox sends him into the crowd with two ace crushers. Fox dives onto him with a tope con hilo. In the ring, Cheech gets his feet up to block Fox’s splash. He suplexs Fox for two. Cheech superkicks Fox in the corner. Fox skins the cat to the top rope. He flies down with a Code Breaker for the pin at 4:34. That pin came out of nowhere. Cheech had the advantage for almost all of the match. Nevertheless, they packed a good punch in under five minutes. *3/4

We’re shown a clip from “United: NYC” when YAMATO defeated BxB Hulk for the Open The Freedom Gate Championship. Akira Tozawa and Jon Moxley come out to the ring. Reby Sky comes out and believes she got off on the wrong foot with Moxley. Her feminine charms causes Moxley to leave Tozawa high and dry for his upcoming match.

BxB Hulk vs. Akira Tozawa

Tozawa crossfaces Hulk on the mat. Hulk turns over and delivers knee strikes to Tozawa’s head. They each break a submission, reaching a stalemate. They trade wristlocks. Hulk armdrags him into a crossface of his own. Tozawa escapes. After bouncing off the ropes, Hulk catches him with two armdrags and a dropkick. Tozawa regains composure on the floor. Hulk kicks him as he slides back in. Tozawa takes out Hulk’s leg. He hits a senton and boots Hulk down in the corner. Tozawa delivers a fallaway kick for two. Tozawa chops Hulk in the corner. Hulk blocks a chop, so Tozawa punches him in the face. He hits a bicycle kick, and Hulk responds with a thrust kick to the chest. Tozawa lands two forearm smashes. Hulk cartwheels ad delivers another thrust kick. Hulk hits a seated springboard splash. Hulk chokes Tozawa on the floor. In the ring, Hulk snapmares him into a dropkick. He hits a standing rotation senton for two. Tozawa kicks Hulk’s leg out. He sends Hulk to the floor with a running knee strike. Tozawa then hits two consecutive suicide dives. Tozawa hits a third to appease the fans. In the ring, Hulk tries to block a Saito suplex with elbows and knees. Tozawa doesn’t let up and hits the move for two. Hulk comes off the second rope with a crossbody, but Tozawa meets him with double knees. Hulk hits an axe kick. Hulk sweeps his legs and hits a running shooting star press for two. Hulk delivers a roundhouse kick and the EVO for two. Tozawa catches Hulk with a bicycle kick on the top rope. Tozawa gets two with a superplex. Tozawa hits an enzuigiri. Hulk hits Mouse and a lariat. Hulk lands on his feet to block a German suplex. Tozawa ducks First Flash and rolls Hulk up for two. Hulk connects with First Flash. Tozawa delivers a rana and a shining wizard. Tozawa and Hulk trade strikes mid-ring. They kick each otherin the face multiple times. Hulk flips Tozawa over to avoid Ganki and gets a two count. Hulk hits the FTX for two. Tozawa blocks a second with a reverse DDT. He hits Ganki for two. Hulk hits an enzuigiri and aclothesline. Tozawa hits a German suplex for two. He hits a second and an arm capture German suplex and gets the pin at 20:34. Tozawa solidifies himself as a top guy in DGUSA and Hulk looks tremendous in losing. Every now and then Hulk pulls out a stellar match and this was one of them. The chemistry here was fantastic, and the rest of the show will have a difficult time following this. ****

Austin Aries comes out to the ring and Jimmy Jacobs follows. Jacobs says although he and Aries have a tumultuous past, he wants Aries on his team and promises he would repay the favor were Aries to need it. Long story short, Aries agrees to joins Jacobs’ team. Jon Moxley comes out with Reby Sky. Moxley says he’s going to do them a favor and puts YAMATO on their team since the Blood Warriors are a threat to Kamikaze USA also. Before a fourth member can be added to their team, Homicide comes out to start his match with Moxley.

No Disqualification Match
Homicide vs. Jon Moxley

Homicide beats up Moxley ringside. He chases him around the building, hitting him with chairs along the way. Moxley rakes Homicide’s eyes and chokes him. Homicide gives Moxley a facebuster on a table. He throws a chair at Moxley’s face and Moxley throws Homicide head first multiple times into the wall. Homicide throws guardrails onto Moxley then throws a chair onto it. Homicide breaks a beer bottle against a ring post. Before he can use it, Moxley delivers a low blow. Homicide delivers more strikes in a small area in the crowd. Moxley hits Homicide wih a charging elbow into the wall. He powerbombs Homicide into the wall. In the ring, Moxley hits a lariat. Reby Sky comes into the ring. She low blows and slaps Moxley. Leonard gets in a “Clerks” reference to describe her ruse. Homicide suplexes Moxley for two. They slap each other on the mat. Homicide hits an ace crusher, as does Moxley. Moxley gets a two count. He applies a crossface chickenwing. Homicide backs Moxley into the corner and then to the floor. Homicide cannonball sentons onto Moxley in the crowd. In the ring, Homicide hits a lariat for two. Homicide delivers another ace crusher and lariat for two. Moxley eggs Homicide on. Homicide bites Moxley and puts him on the top rope. He hits the Hamachan cutter for two. Homicide follows up with the Cop Killa and stares at him. Homicide puts Moxley on top of himself to purposefully get pinned at 13:20. That was possibly the most God damn stupid finish I have ever seen. On top of that, the pacing, heat and construction of the match were all poor. I can’t say I’m surprised, since they gave this crowd EVERYTHING at EVOLVE 6. Why even bother having this bout? ½*

Homicide refuses to be announced the winner. He gives Moxley a piledriver. He says he doesn’t care if he wins or lose. If it’s all the same, then why didn’t he beat Moxley when he had the chance to? Homicide pulls out a pair of scissors and attempts to cut Moxley’s tongue off. Akira Tozawa makes the save, allowing Moxley to escape.

Pinkie Sanchez vs. Rexx Reed

Reed tosses Sanchez to the corner. He delivers three chops. Sanchez evades a splash and gets in some shots of his own. He hits The Shining to send Reed to the floor. Sanchez tope con hilo’s onto him. Reed catches Sanchez’s crossbody attempt and slams Sanchez onto the ring frame. He throws Sanchez back into the ring. Reed hits a running forearm and Sliding D. A senton splash gets him two. Reed misses a corner splash, as does Sanchez. Sanchez falls to the floor due to his momentum. He hits an enzugiri and spinwheel kick from the apron. Sanchez hits bootiez4breakfast for two. Reed catches Sanchez with an enzuigiri on the top rope. Reed cannonball senton’s him in the corner. He fallows with a backbreaker for the pin at 3:39. Pretty sloppy all around, and more fans seemed to care about Sanchez then Reed. Especially know that Sanchez is a DGUSA regular, I would have loved to see him topple the much larger Reed. ¼*

YAMATO, Austin Aries, Jimmy Jacobs & Sami Callihan vs. Blood Warriors (CIMA, Naruki Doi, Dragon Kid & Ricochet)

Callihan joins the team at the end of the introductions, viewing this match as an opportunity to prove his worth. Jacobs’ team give all four Blood Warriors stereo wristlocks. They snap their arms across the top rope. Kid and Jacobs exchange wristlocks. Kid delivers a wheelbarrow armdrag. Kid kicks Jacobs, who responds with a clothesline. Callihan and CIMA tag in. CIMA takes him down right away. CIMA kicks him in the chest. Callihan sweeps his leg and gets the Stretch Muffler after some struggle. CIMA kicks him away, and Callihan hits a low clothesline. Aries and Doi tag in. They exchange strikes and armdrags. They each break each others headscissors, reaching a stalemate. Ricochet and YAMATO tag in. Ricochet takes him over with a rana. They each get a back elbow. Ricochet sends YAMATO to the floor with a springboard armdrag. CIMA attacks YAMATO from behind while he and Ricochet are about to lock wrists. YAMATO gets bullied by the BW’s. He manages to bring Kid to his corner and tags in Callihan. He chops Kid before Jacobs slams him off the ropes. Aries hits a slingshot senton for two. He puts Kid in a Stump Puller, rolling back for a two count. Kid brings Aries to the BW corner. Ricochet takes down Aries until he misses a dropkick in the corner. Aries tags in Callihan. He beats on Ricochet’s back. Jacobs hits a few stomps and an elbow drop. Jacobs spears Ricochet and lays in some punches. YAMATO slaps Ricochet with his ring towel. Callihan delivers a rope bounce splash for two. Ricochet nails an enzuigiri. Doi and CIMA wishbone his legs. The Warriors isolate Callihan whilst mocking thei opponents. Callihan finally escapes their grasp by giving CIMA a Saito suplex. YAMATO spears Kid and dropkicks Ricochet off the apron. Aries gives Doi a neckbreaker in the ropes for two. Doi avoids a brainbuster and O’Conner Rolls Doi for two. Aries drops Doi and Kid simultaneously. All of Jacobs’ team looks the BW team in submissions. CIMA breaks them all. CIMA doublestomps Aries and hits a senton for two. A rolling elbow gets Aries two. CIMA trips Aries into a grapevine stretch. He suplexes Jacobs which snaps Aries’ legs simultaneously. Ricochet trips Callihan and delivers a standing moonsault senton for two. Ricochet jumps into the Callihan’s Zig Zag. Callihan Saito suplexes him for two. YAMATO rolls Doi up for two. He hits an enzuigiri and brainbuster for two. Doi and YAMATO exchange forearms. Doi splashes YAMATO back first on the ropes. YAMATO gets attacked by all of BW. Aries breaks their pin attempt. YAMATO powerbombs Kid and Aries pins him for two. Aries hits Kid with the IED. Kid gives him a stunner. Jacobs gives him the Contra Code for two. Doi crotches Callihan. CIMA gives him Venus. Kid snaps off the stack up huracanrana. Doi sentons Callihan as he dangles from the ropes. Ricochet hits a quebrada for two. The BW attack Jacobs in the corner. He eats triple Tokarev’s and CIMA’s Perfect Driver for two. Aries hits the heat seeking missile on CIMA and Kid. Ricochet Sasuke Special’s onto the floor. In the ring, Jacobs puts Doi in the End Time. Doi escapes with the Doi 555. The Bakatare Sliding Kick for the pin at 24:32. The action was a bit all over the place at times and didn’t get its footing until near the end. The finish was a little underwhelming; the fans just assumed Jacobs would kick out. Regardless, this was a lot of fun and had plenty of cool and exciting action that you’d expect out of this kind of match. ***1/2

Open The United Gate Championship Tournament Finals
World-1(Masato Yoshino & PAC) vs. Ronin (Chuck Taylor & Johnny Gargano)

Yoshino takes Gargano down with a dropkick. Gargao blocks a backslide with a low ace crusher. PAC and Taylor tag in. Taylor takes PAC off his feet with a shoulder block. PAC handspring dropkicks Taylor to the floor. Gargano cuts off PAC’s dive attempt. Yoshino tags in and delivers a double axe hadle to Gargano’s arm. PAC does the same. Yoshino double stomps Gargano’s arm. Yoshio rolls Gargano into an Octopus on the mat. Gargano gets the ropes. PAC hits a twiting moonsault off Yoshino’s back for two. Taylor tags in and throws PAC face first into a pump kick from Gargano. Ronin double team PAC in their corner. PAC escapes with an enzuigiri and dropkick to Taylor. Yoshino tags in. Gargano immediately attacks him from behind. Taylor accidentally forearms Gargano. Yoshino dropss Taylor with the Slingblade. Taylor responds with the Sole Food and a uranage for two. Yoshino puts him in From Jungle. Gargano breaks. PAC slips in. He and Gargano trade waistlocks. PAC hits a slingshot ace crusher. He then hits a shooting star press for two. Gargano hits him with an enzuigiri. He lawn darts PAC into the corner. A low superkick gets him two when Yoshino breaks the pin. Gargano nails him with the slingshot spear. Taylor follows up with a quebrada for two. Taylor hits a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, and Gargano hits a running knee strike. PAC breaks the pin. He delivers a leg lariat to Taylor. Yoshino dropkicks Gargano, falling into a senton on Taylor. PAC gives Taylor a corkscrew press for two. Taylor delivers a blockbuster to PAC from Gargano’s back for two. Taylor pops PAC into an ace crusher from Gargano. Yoshino breaks the pin. Gargano suicide dives onto Yoshino. Taylor drops PAC with the Awful Waffle, and he kicks out at two. Taylor DDT’s PAC into the Hurts Donut from Gargano. He transitions into the Gargano Escape. Yoshino tries to break the hold but Taylor stops him twice. The third time, Yoshino drops him with a modified Torbellino. He puts Taylor in Sol Naciente. Gargano breaks his hold to free Taylor. Yoshino gives Gargano the Lightning Spiral for two. PAC and Yoshino attack Gargano in the corner. PAC hits a Phoenix Splash for two. Gargano superkicks PAC into a knee from Taylor. He jackknife pins PAC for two. He delivers a Dragon suplex. PAC gets back up and hits an enzuigiri. PAC catches Gargano with a German suplex for the pin at 17:35. The finish was very anti-climatic, especially when you consider how many bigger moves the guys kicked out of previously. The smaller crowd hurt the heat of the match too. If it had been in Philly, this would have felt so much more special. This was a good match and a semi-strong main event, but it was unquestionably the worst of the tournament. ***1/2

Ronin shake hands with World-1. World-1 are the first ever Open The United Gate champions, and are now both double champions. They send the fans home with the typical thank you message. Backstage, Jon Moxley and YAMATO are not pleased with how their night went. Moxley yells because Tozawa isn’t around. He shows up, clearly not happy with Moxley. Moxley blames Tozawa for his problems. Tozawa tells him to shut up and tells YAMATO that Kamikaze doesn’t need Moxley. Just when I looks like YAMATO is about to take Tozawa’s side, YAMATO attacks him from behind. Moxley helps beat Tozawa out and informs Tozawa that he is out of Kamikaze USA.

Open The Dream Gate Championship
Naruki Doi (Champion) vs. Susumu Yokosuka
Gate of Victory – Fukuoka, Japan – 10.25.2009

The initial lock-up ends in a clean break. They fight for control on the mat. Doi gets two with a crucifix pin. Doi drags Yokosuka into a grapevine stretch. He transitions into a headlock. Yokosuka throws Doi off. He blocks two of Doi’s shoulder blocks and knocks Doi down with one of his own. They eavde a series of each others moves until Yokosuka hits a clothesline that sends Doi to the floor. Yokosuka follows him out and accidentally clotheslines the ring post. Doi throws his arm into the ring post a few more times. Yokosuka makes it back in the ring at the count of 18. Doi focuses his attack on Yokosuka’s injured arm. Yokosuka kicks out Doi’s leg as Doi comes off the ropes to switch gears. Yokosuka drops Doi knee first onto the mat. Yokosuka pays Doi back by focusing his energy on damaging Doi’s knee, including slamming it against the ring post like Doi did to his arm. Doi fires back with some overhand chops, but Yokosuka drives Doi’s knee right back into the mat to cancel out his short lived comeback. Doi catches Yokosuka on the apron and back elbows him. He misses a senton and grabs his knee in pain. Yokosuka kicks Doi’s leg as it’s trapped in the ropes. Doi breaks a submission via the ropes and suplexes Yokosuka. Yokosuka tries to drive Doi’s knees into the mat from the second rope, but he lands on his feet and hits the Dai Bousou. He throws Yokosuka to the floor with the Doi 555. Doi follows up with a suicide dive. Doi dropkicks Yokosuka as he’s hung up in the ropes. He hits an elevated DDT for two. Doi clotheslines Yokosuka as Yokosuka comes off the ropes. Yokosuka blocks the Doi 555 and hits Mugen. He’s too hurt to make the cover. Yokosuka throws Doi into the corner with an exploder suplex. Doi blocks a second Mugen attempt with a backdrop. Yokosuka cuts off Doi on the top rope. Yokosuka throws him off with an exploder suplex for two. Doi drops him with a Rydeen Bomb for two. Doi crotches Yokosuka on the top rope and delivers a neckbreaker. He follows with Dai Bousou and a superplex for two. Yokosuka foils a few of Doi’s move but takes the Doi 555. He pops right up and hits the Jumbo No Kachi. He mindf*cks Doi by hitting the Bakatare Sliding Kick for two. Yokosuka goes for the Muscular Bomb. Doi blocks and gets himself in a forearm battle. Yokosuka takes them like a man before firing back with a series of short clotheslines. He hits another Jumbo No Kachi. Doi counters another one with a Dragon suplex for two. Yokosuka slips out of a Muscular Bomb attempt to hit another Jumbo No Kachi. He drops Doi with Mugen and only gets two. Yokosuka hits a clothesline to Doi in the corner and puts him on the top rope. Doi hits him with super Doi 555 and the Bakatare Sliding Kick. Yokosuka gets his foot on the ropes just in time to break the count. Doi hits another Bakatare Siding Kick which fires Yokosuka up. Same thing happens when Doi hits a second. Yokosuka grabs his leg to block a third and pins him for two. Doi baits him into another Bakatare Sliding Kick for two. Yokosuka flips over to reverse a Muscular Bomb and gets two. Doi catches a Jumbo No Kachi and crucifix pins him for two. Doi blocks a second and catches Yokosuka for the pin at 32:55. This match took some time going, but by the ending the crowd was molten and lived and die with every nearfall. Yokosuka countering the Muscular Bomb was an amazing moment. It was easy to believe that Doi would kick out of all those Jumbo No Kachi’s and that Yokosuka would kick out of all the Bakatare Sliding Kicks because their opponents spent considerable time wearing down their arm and leg (respectively). This was truly awesome, even with a slow start. ****1/4
