Ian Riccaboni interviewed Deonna Purrazzo on the April 9th episode of ROH on HonorClub, asking her about Diamanté declaring herself the top Pure women’s wrestler after submitting Rachael Ellering to a fujiwara armbar. Purrazzo says if Diamanté wants a shot at her title, all she has to do is ask. When she does face Diamanté, Purrazzo says she won’t only submit Diamanté to the Venus de Milo, but she will break both of her arms so that she can never utilize the Fujiwara armbar again. The title match is then made official for Supercard of Honor.
ROH Pure Championship
Lee Moriarty vs. Marshall von Erich
ROH on HonorClub #162 – Jacksonville, FL – 4.17.2026
Moriarty has been champion since 7.26.2024 and this is his fourteenth defense. The Pure Rules can be found here. The Von Erichs and Bang Bang Gang defeated Shane Taylor Promotions last week, so by virtue of that bout, this match was made. Nevermind that neither Lee nor Marshall were involved in that match’s decision. This is also Marshall’s first singles match in ROH (and AEW for that matter.) Moriarty walks him to the ropes in a hammerlock, forcing him to use his first rope break. Marshall cuts off Moriarty with a mid-air single legged dropkick. He applies the Claw and Moriarty very quickly uses his first rope break to escape. Moriarty divorce court DDT’s Marshall’s shoulder. Moriarty snaps Marshall’s fingers while pulling onto his shoulder. Moriarty hammerlocks one arm while hyperextending the other. Marshall uses one of his feet to use his second rope break. Moriarty stomps on Marshall’s right elbow before ramming his shoulder in a hammerlocked position into the turnbuckles. Marshall avoids a corner attack and bodyslams Moriarty. Marshall pummels him into a seated position in the corner before delivering a tumbling senton for two. Moriarty blocks a clothesline and Saito suplexes Marshall in a hammerlock. Moriarty goes for the Border City Stretch. Marshall uses his third and final rope break to escape. Moriarty slips to the apron. When Marshall goes for the Claw, Moriarty instead puts him in an armbar in the ropes, with Marshall’s throat being dug into the top rope. Marshall passes out and the referee calls for the bell at 6:51. This probably should have been a Proving Ground match. The simple story of Moriarty working over Marshall’s arm to weaken the Claw, and then using the Claw against Marshall to win the match due to the rope break rule was very good stuff. Moriarty winning relatively quickly over a Pure wrestling novice also makes sense. ***
Speaking of Pure Rules, we then cut to Josh Woods who is standing by. He says he has been gaining momentum in the Pure division but has grown bored. He decides to issue an open challenge for Supercard of Honor to any wrestler across the world. He says by defeating whoever steps up in the open challenge, he will be one step closer to regaining the Pure title. Later in the episode, Nigel McGuinness answered the challenge, saying you don’t get a chance to face Lee Moriarty for a third time without going through him first. If Woods can’t defeat him, Nigel wants one more shot against Lee Moriarty. Nigel wants to find out if Woods still has “the Goods.” I am really looking forward to that match.
ROH World Television Championship
Nick Wayne vs. Evil Uno
ROH on HonorClub #162 – Jacksonville, FL – 4.17.2026
Nick Wayne has been champion since 4.17.2025 and this is his seventh defense. Mother Wayne is in his corner. Commentary says Evil Uno got this match due to his success in Mystery Wrestling, Maple Leaf Pro, and ROH. If you actually look up his record of late, it’s quite poor. Just like the other title match on this episode, it would have made more sense if it was a Proving Ground match. Wayne does not shake Uno’s hand. Uno uses his size advantage to intimidate Wayne and also impose his strength against him. After a slam, Wayne finds solace in Mother Wayne’s arms on the floor. Uno surprises Wayne with a shoulder tackle, knocking Wayne onto the ring apron. When Uno brings Wayne to the top turnbuckle, Wayne pulls Uno’s shoulders down and jams it across the top turnbuckle. Wayne then double stomps Uno’s elbow as Uno is holding onto the top rope. Wayne continues to attack his left arm until Uno cuts him off with a neckbreaker. Uno boots Wayne into a DDT for two, and then immediately piledrives him for another two count. When Uno goes to Irish whip him, Wayne holds onto the top rope so Uno’s own arm jams up. Wayne then takes him down with a standing Shiranui and applies a top wrist lock. Uno gets to the ropes to escape. Uno surprises Wayne with a jawbreaker and gives him a facebuster onto his knee. Wayne blocks a rolling clothesline with a high kick for the pin at 10:13. I mentioned in one of my previous writings that I like how champions have “lesser” finishers for “lesser” tier competitors. In his Proving Ground match, Wayne used the high kick against Uno’s partner Alex Reynolds, and then against Uno here, which I think is perfect given where those guys are in the current ROH hierarchy. Uno playing up his size advantage was a good play, as the crowd got into him showing off his power and Wayne sold like a champ. It ended up a stronger match than I anticipated. ***¼
Ian Riccaboni interviews Nick after the match. Ian asks what’s next for the World Television champion. Nick says this is the world domination of Nick Wayne, and it continues when he enters the Best of the Super Juniors for the second year in a row next month. He will do the same thing in New Japan that he has done in ROH, defeat all of his opponents, and become the youngest BOSJ winner in history. He says this is Wayne’s World, and we’re all just living in it. As he is exiting, AR Fox enters for his match and stares down Wayne. Wayne wants to trash talk, but Fox ignores him and high fives the fans. Kip Sabian holds back Wayne from attacking him, and they look at each other one more time before Nick is taken to the back by Kip and his Mother. Fox would then defeat Daisuke Sasaki, another Best of the Super Juniors entrant, with a Destroyer.
It is made official that Bandido will defend his ROH World championship against Blake Christian. Christian says he has been chasing Bandido for a year, but it’s time for the cat and mouse game to end.
For the first time in four years, the ROH Pure Title would be defended on the independents, against someone who a stalwart of the Pure Division in the final days of the Sinclair era:
ROH Pure Championship
Lee Moriarty vs. Cheeseburger
Labor of Love “The Exhibition” – Philadelphia, PA – 4.25.2026
Moriarty has been champion since 7.26.2024 and this is his fourteenth defense. The Pure Rules can be found here. Three unnamed referees are the judges for this bout. The crowd is fully behind Cheeseburger. Cheeseburger also proves his Pure rules prowess by escaping from Moriarty’s holds without the aid of the ropes. This changes when Moriarty rolls Cheeseburger into a Border City Stretch. When that happens, Cheeseburger scurries to the bottom rope to use his first rope break. Moriarty holds a finger in Cheeseburger’s face to emphasize that fact. Cheeseburger crawls under Moriarty and climbs up his back into a sleeper hold with a bodyscissor. When Moriarty goes to grab the ropes, Cheeseburger handlebars both of his arms. Moriarty walks forward, sticking his body into the middle rope to use his first rope break to escape. Moriarty is clearly humiliated and angered by the act. He slams Cheeseburger down onto his chest when Cheeseburger looks for a headscissors. Moriarty puts Cheeseburger in a modified parachute stretch, resulting in Cheeseburger using his second rope break. Cheeseburger manages to reverse a suplex and buy a moment to recover. He superkicks Moriarty before Dragon suplexing him into a head kick for two. Cheeseburger cinches in a STF, which Moriarty uses his second rope break to escape. Moriarty ducks the Shotei. He knee strikes Cheeseburger in the midsection before landing a basement dropkick. Moriarty applies a Camel Clutch. When he straightjackets one of his arms, Cheeseburger uses his other arm to utilize his third and final rope break. Cheeseburger counters a Tiger Driver with a Frankensteiner. He walks Moriarty into an Oklahoma Roll for two. Moriarty backslides Cheeseburger looking for the Border City Stretch, but Cheeseburger counters into the Skayde schoolboy for two. A strike exchange ends with Moriarty taking down Cheeseburger with a facebuster into the Border City Stretch. Cheeseburger tries rolling Moriarty onto his shoulders to escape, only for Moriarty to readjust. Cheeseburger grabs the bottom rope. With Cheeseburger under the ropes, Moriarty puts Cheeseburger in a Camel Clutch that digs the bottom rope into his spine, and Cheeseburger submits at 15:56. This was so great. This style of wrestling is clearly a point of pride for both of them and it was emblematic throughout the match. When Cheeseburger used a rope break, it was tactical, but when Moriarty used one, it wounded his pride and he took it out on Cheeseburger. The raucous crowd made for an environment that escalated everything they did. I recommend seeking this out on YouTube or IWTV. ***¾
During Episode 165, Red Velvet defeated Rachael Ellering in a Proving Ground match. It was then announced that Viva Van would face Red Velvet for the Women’s TV title at Supercard of Honor. I guess her win against Sara Leon the previous week was enough to earn this title match, despite having a 1-17 record.
In the opening match of Episode 165, Eddie Kingston and Ortiz defeated The Infantry. After the match, The Infantry and Shane Taylor beat down Kingston and Ortiz. Mance Warner, who debuted for ROH in an unsuccessful singles match against Taylor the week before, came to Kingston and Ortiz’s aid. This win earned those men a Six Man Tag Title match on the Supercard Showdown episode of ROH on HonorClub:
ROH World Six Man Tag Team Championship
Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor, Carlie Bravo & Shawn Dean) vs. Eddie Kingston, Mance Warner & Ortiz
ROH on HonorClub #166 – Palm Beach Gardens, FL – 5.14.2026
Shane Taylor Promotions have been champions since 8.29.2025 and this is their fifth defense. Anthony Ogogo and Christyan XO are in STP’s corner. A brawl between all six men starts the match, leading to Warner and Ortiz double teaming Bravo. Warner scores a nearfall on Dean with a big boot, and then bites his hand as he goes to tag in Kingston. They send Dean out with a double shoulder block, leading to Taylor and Kingston running at each other with stereo shoulder blocks. Kingston takes down the big man with a shoulder tackle off of the middle turnbuckle. Taylor headbutts Kingston in the jaw and brings him to his corner where all of STP maul the former World champion. Kingston uses Taylor’s own momentum against him to take him down with an exploder suplex. Kingston uses the opening to tag Warner back in, who takes down Bravo with an atomic drop and lariat and Dean with jabs and a bionic eye poke. Taylor clotheslines Warner to stop his follow up attack. Warner succumbs to the Broken Arrow and an elevated splash from the Infantry, but both Kingston and Ortiz break the pin. Warner cracks Dean with a running knee strike. Bravo breaks the pin and sends Ortiz face first into the ring post. Dean pitches Kingston to the floor as XO distracts Warner. Dean and Bravo take down Warner with a backdrop/neckbreaker combo for the pin at 8:52. A really fun and rugged bout, very different from the rest of STP’s title reign. Warner is a perfect third for Kingston and Ortiz and I hope that combination sticks around. I also think a Kingston vs. Taylor match would be a hoot. ***
ROH World Television Championship
Nick Wayne vs. AR Fox
ROH on HonorClub #166 – Palm Beach Gardens, FL – 5.14.2026
Nick Wayne has been champion since 4.17.2025 and this is his eighth defense. Mother Wayne and Kip Sabian are in Wayne’s corner. Commentary says Fox’s wins against Johnny TV, Action Andretti, and Daisuke Sasaki earned him this title match. That’s a variation of CHIKARA’s three points system in action so I will absolutely accept this. Fox takes down Wayne with a corkscrew brainbuster and kicks in Mother Wayne’s direction, angering Sabian. Wayne slips to the outside. When Fox tries to follow, Wayne cuts him off with a boot to the stomach. Fox uses the bottom rope and apron to deliver a tiger feint kick and kickflip moonsaults onto Wayne using the ring post. Sabian crotches Fox behind the referee’s back and Wayne knocks him to the floor. Wayne uses the steel steps to give Fox a shiranui on the floor. Wayne continues to attack Fox’s neck back inside of the ring until he escapes Wayne’s grasp with a chinbreaker. Fox catches Wayne with a spike DDT from the apron into the ring. Fox pulls Wayne up into a cutter and gives him a package sit-out powerbomb for two. Wayne comes back with another standing shiranui for two. Wayne gives a hard knee strike to Fox’s sternum when Fox resists a German suplex, and elbowed him in the lower back when he broke free of a full nelson. Fox armdrags his way away from Wayne. Wayne blocks a roll-up Ace Crusher and takes down Fox with a Dragon suplex. He follows up with a Yoshi Tonic for two. Wayne trash talks Fox before kicking him in the chest. Fox spits at Wayne. He ducks Wayne’s head kick and rolls the champion into an Ace Crusher. Wayne cuts off Wayne coming off the ropes with another Ace Crusher and then lands a tope con hilo to the floor. Fox takes out Sabian with a tope con hilo for good measure before attempting Air Fox. Wayne gets his knees up to block and kicks Fox upside the head. He goes for Wayne’s World, but Fox counters into a small package for the pin and the title at 13:00! Fox kept pace with Wayne the entire match, if not remained a step ahead of him, and that paid off with a feel good victory. I LOVE that Fox, who earlier in the match was thwarted by Sabian when he went to the top rope, made sure to wipe him out before trying that again. I have to imagine they took the title off of Wayne because he is missing the PPV due to being in Best of the Super Juniors, but it felt like time anyways. Fox has potential to be a very good champion. ***¼
A video plays after the match with Lio Rush oozing black goo from his mouth and saying “tomorrow.” It’s then confirmed Rush will challenge AR Fox for the TV title at Supercard of Honor. These two obviously have great chemistry, but whether Rush’s new Sméagol character will hurt that chemistry is to be seen.
Earlier in the episode, Blake Christian pinned Evil Uno after a Lethal Injection, Bandido’s 21 Plex, and the Vanilla Choke Zero. Christian then says he has been proving week in and week out that he is capable of taking Bandido’s World championship. There’s a changing of the seasons taking place, and he will be new World champion tomorrow. The show concluded with Bandido defeating Action Andretti in a Proving Ground match. After the match, Christian faced Bandido from the apron. He tossed Bandido’s mask at his feet, giving it back to him. Christian teased entering the ring, but then tapped his wrist, signifying that his time is coming.
Additionally, they announced that Mark Davis’ first defense of the AEW National Championship will take place at SCOH, defending against CMLL’s Xelhua. Ricochet’s first defense of this title happened at Final Battle, so there is some continuity there. Also, by virtue of being undefeated in ROH, Ace Austin will challenge Lee Moriarty for the Pure Championship. This confirms my statement that Global Wars Canada was non-canonical, as Austin lost on that show, but otherwise does have a spotless ROH record. Just like Marshall von Erich earning a title shot by The Von Erichs and Bang Bang Gang defeating Shane Taylor Promotions, Austin also counts that win as a reason for this bout, but at least he was the one who actually got his team the victory.
The Women’s Title will be defended for the first time ever in Survival of the Fittest match. We had actual qualifying matches this year, and those will be covered in a separate post. In a six person tag at Supercard Showdown, Athena stole a pin from Starkz, and Starkz expressed her being tired of Athena’s selfishness backstage, so maybe, finally, she will best the champion this time.
That brings us to eight matches on the PPV. With the Six Man Tag Titles defended the night before, I do not anticipate seeing them defended, unless they’re added to the Zero Hour. Same goes for the tag titles. Sammy Guevara has been absent from ROH and AEW for two months, so something is up.
The PPV itself looks solid. My bold prediction is both Bandido and Athena will lose their World titles. I suspect Nigel will defeat Josh Woods and get his threematch against Lee Moriarty at Death Before Dishonor. I don’t anticipate any other title changes but would not be surprised to see either of the other two women’s titles change hands.
