ROH Women’s World Championship
Athena vs. Red Velvet
AEW Battle of the Belts X – Highland Heights, KY – 4.13.2024
Athena has been the champion since 12.10.2022 and this is her twenty-first defense. ROH Women’s World Television Champion Billie Starkz is in her corner. Velvet sent Athena to the floor with a leg lariat and followed up with a suicide dive. When she brought the champ to the apron, Athena surprised Velvet with a Hot Shot onto the turnbuckle and then gave her a backbreaker on the apron. During the break, Starkz cheered on as Athena pummeled Velvet. Athena also targeted Velvet’s back during the beatdown. Velvet evaded a corner attack which sent Athena’s shoulder into the ring post. She kept the momentum with a dropkick to the shoulder blades as well as modified Destino. Athena pulls Velvet face first into the middle turnbuckle to get momentum back on her side. She slams Velvet off of her shoulders thrice, but Velvet counters the fourth with a huracanrana for two. Athena counters a wheelbarrow pin attempt into a uranage slam. Velvet does score with a super wheelbarrow buster and a tornado DDT for two. Velvet attempted a crossbody to the floor, but Athena caught her and then slammed her hard onto the floor. Athena throws her by the hair twice into the side of the ring before rolling her back inside. Velvet landed one desperation superkick before Athena laid her out with a forearm smash, and then the O-Face earned Athena the pinfall at 12:43. This was a really good showcase for Velvet who got to show her grit and determination, earning a couple of convincing nearfalls in the process. Athena’s still great, and it’s a shame that an injury would halt her progress a couple of months later. Knowing that, Velvet would’ve been a solid option to win the title (as would have Shida at Supercard of Honor the previous weekend.) ***½
Queen Aminata ran out to save Red Velvet from a post-match beatdown, knocking Starks to the floor with a headbutt and leaving Athena laying with an Air Raid Crash. All four of these women are too good to be relegated to ROH purgatory, but ROH is better because of their involvement.

ROH World Six Man Tag Team Championship & AEW World Trios Championship Unification Match
BULLET CLUB Gold (Jay White, Austin Gunn & Colten Gunn) vs. The Acclaimed (Max Caster & Anthony Bowens) & Billy Gunn
AEW Dynasty Zero Hour – St. Louis, MO – 4.21.2024
BULLET CLUB Gold have been champions since 1.17.2024 and this is their second defense. The Acclaimed & Billy Gunn have been AEW World Trios Champions since 8.27.2023 and this is their twelfth defense. The winners of this match will be the Unified World Trios Champions. The Gunns did the dirty work while White played the role of the disruptor any time the team was falling behind. During the match, he distracted Billy so the Gunn’s could attack him from behind, he threw Caster into the guardrails, and dropped Bowens face first twice on the ring apron, all to shift the momentum back into BC Gold’s favor. While Austin Gunn had referee Stephon Smith distracted, White clocked Billy in the back with a baseball bat. The Gunn’s then dropped their father With 3:10 To Yuma, but only for a two count. The Acclaimed got White alone momentarily, but the Gunns swooped back in quickly and took out Caster. White put down Bowens with a uranage slam. Billy dropped White with the One and Only, and Caster followed up with a Mic Drop, but White kicked out of Billy’s pin at two. White avoided the Fame-Asser and dropped Billy with the Blade Runner to secure the pin at 14:44. White was the glue that held this together. You remove his contributions and it’s just dudes doing stuff for a while. They wrestled like it was an exhibition match for the most part. You wouldn’t have any idea that these two teams were once a supergroup that disintegrated and now hate each other based on the action. **¾
BULLET CLUB Gold is seemingly no more, taking on the Bang Bang Gang moniker as their actual team name after this match. This isn’t necessarily an official departure from BULLET CLUB, but it seems less and less likely any sort of BC Civil War is ever going to happen, so there’s no point in this team keeping that name aside from being able to produce more BC themed shirts.

Unified World Trios Championship Match
Bang Bang Gang (Jay White, Austin Gunn & Colten Gunn) vs. Top Flight (Dante Martin & Darius Martin) & Action Andretti
AEW Collision #43 – Jacksonville, FL – 4.27.2024
The Bang Bang Gang have been Unified World Trios Champions since 4.21.2024 and this is their first defense. White challenged Top Flight and Andretti to this match out of frustration, with White feeling that Dante Martin cost him the chance to challenge for the AEW International Title during the Casino Gauntlet match on the prior Wednesday. White got his hands on Dante to start, but turned things over to the Gunn’s when Dante got the better of their exchange. They tried to keep him away from his corner, but Dante ducked a clothesline from Austin, leading Darius to blind tag in. He held down the top rope for Andretti to dive onto Colten after Dante took out White with a suicide dive, giving Darius space to plant Austin with a slingshot Complete Shot for two. Darius missed a baseball slide to Austin, and instead was met with a lariat from White. White laid out Darius with a Gourd Buster on the apron. They had a cute moment where the Gunns were cheering on White from behind the guardrail, just as they did during the Jacksonville pandemic era. In the ring, Darius escaped their grasp and tagged in Andretti, who maneuvered his way around the Gunns, taking both down and scoring a nearfall on Austin with a C4. Austin also kicked out of a standing shooting star press. White and Colten sent Top Flight crashing into the barricades. Andretti was perched on the top rope when Colten distracted the referee so White could crotch Andretti on the top turnbuckle. White pulled him down, but he had to take out both of Top Flight with uranage’s. The Gunn’s assisted with a 3:10 To Yuma onto Darius. Andretti came back with a shotgun dropkick to White, but White caught a back handspring and pulled Andretti into the Blade Runner for the pin at 11:13. Babyface fliers against conniving bad guys is a surefire combo. It was a longshot that the Bang Bang Gang would lose in their first defense, but Top Flight and Andretti convinced me otherwise on a couple of occasions. Really fun match. ***¼
PAC saved Rocky Romero during a post-match beatdown from the Bang Bang Gang on the May 8th episode of Rampage. They did not take kindly to PAC’s interjection, and retaliated by beating him down on an episode of Dynamite. PAC would reunite with his Death Triangle partners The Lucha Brothers to even the odds, defeating Austin and Colten Gunn in a tag team match the night before the Double Or Nothing PPV. A trios match was set for the PPV before this tag bout, but this victory cemented it as a title bout. This would be Death Triangle’s first match as a trio since January 11, 2023.

Unified World Trios Championship Match
Bang Bang Gang (Jay White, Austin Gunn & Colten Gunn) vs. Death Triangle (PAC, Penta El Zero Miedo & Rey Fenix)
AEW Double or Nothing 2024 – Las Vegas, NV – 5.26.2024
The Bang Bang Gang have been Unified World Trios Champions since 4.21.2024 and this is their second defense. Alex Abrahantes is in Death Triangle’s corner. Death Triangle’s tandem offense was on point to start. While they were taking out Austin Gunn after taking out the legal man Colten Gunn, then did not notice White tag himself in as the legal competitor. The Lucha Bros. wiped out The Gunn’s with stereo dives, and when PAC looked to follow up, White cut him off and stuffed him hard with a DDT. PAC endures a lengthy beatdown, but finally rolls through a double clothesline and tags in Penta, who unloads with chops and kicks to the Gunn’s Fenix walks the top rope and PK’s Austin into a back cracker from Penta. White saves Austin from being pinned after Fenix comes off of Penta’s shoulders with a splash. Fenix then roundhouse kicks White into a spinning Death Valley Driver from Penta for two. PAC takes out the Gunn’s with separate rebound German suplexes. Fenix double stomps White into Fear Factor from Penta. A returning Juice Robinson slides White’s baseball bat into the ring, and while referee Rick Knox is taking care of that, he knocks PAC off of the top rope. White in a daze drops PAC with the Blade Runner for the pin at 12:18. Overall the match was fun and spirited, and you could tell the fans were really happy to see Death Triangle back together. I don’t love that they lost their first match back in sixteen months, but Robinson’s surprise return is a solid out and potentially keeps the feud alive. I hope we get PAC vs. White one-on-one down the line. ***¾

ROH World Television Championship
Kyle Fletcher vs. Dalton Castle
ROH on HonorClub #67 – Las Vegas, NV – 6.6.2024
Fletcher has been champion since 12.15.2023 and this is his sixth defense. Fletcher frustrates Castle with a shove, and although Fletcher goes to the outside and makes Castle give chase, the former World and TV champion does catch Fletcher with a snap DDT back in the ring. Fletcher positions Castle on the apron and nails a leg lariat that sends Castle sailing to the floor. Fletcher also snaps Castle’s shoulder over the top rope and stomps repeatedly on his neck in the corner. Castle victory rolls his way out of a tombstone piledriver, and then he and Fletcher knock each other down with simultaneous clotheslines. After a few German suplexes, Castle attempts Bang-A-Rang, which Fletcher avoids by grabbing at the top rope. Castle catches an OsCutter attempt and German suplexes Fletcher once again. Fletcher attacks Castle’s back to escape another Bang-A-Rang attempt and swivels to the apron to escape yet another attempt, so Castle boots Fletcher in the side of the head and to the floor. Unfortunately for Castle, it’s on the floor where Fletcher pulls off a half-dragon suplex. Back in the ring, Fletcher cracks him in the face with a running gamengiri and pulls him into a brainbuster for two. Fletcher fights for the Ganso Bomb while Castle fights to counter into a Bang-A-Rang. Fletcher ends it by converting into a sunset flip. Fletcher blasts Castle with a leg lariat as Castle goes to the ropes. Castle surprises Fletcher with a jackknife pin for two, but Fletcher finally pulls off the Ganso Bomb for the pin at 12:19. This was a well-built finisher battle, where they made the crowd well aware that whoever pulled theirs off first would win. They did it well, and the audience got into it. This isn’t something that will go down as an all time great TV title match or anything, but it was a perfectly cromulent TV main event. ***¼

ROH World Tag Team Championship
The Undisputed Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) vs. Angelo Parker & Matt Menard
ROH on HonorClub #69 – Des Moines, IA – 6.20.2024
The Undisputed Kingdom have been champions since 12.27.2023 and this is their third defense. A month earlier, Menard earned this title match by defeating Bennett in a singles contest. Parker was on his honeymoon, which is why a proper Proving Ground match did not occur. I thought they were planning to make the former 2.0 tag challengers after Final Battle 2022, and I was kind of right, as this is their first tag match in ROH since that event. Menard has Taven hooked for a tandem double leg sweep when Bennett trips Parker from the floor. Taven attacks Menard when Menard turns around to check out what happened, targeting Menard’s taped up ribs. Menard is double teamed up until he ducks a clothesline from Taven and Parker tags in. Menard drop toe holds Taven into the Boo Ya elbow for two. Taven shoves Parker to the floor. Menard comes out to assist, throwing Bennett face first into the steel steps. He and Parker stop a dropkick through the ropes and slam Taven’s legs into the ring apron. Bennett lays out Parker with the Boston Bayonet, with Taven surprising Menard in the ring with a spinwheel kick. A Death Valley Driver and Just The Tip get the Kingdom a nearfall on Parker. Parker shoves Bennett into the ropes, crotching Taven onto the top turnbuckle and avoiding Hail Mary. Menard had been knocked off the apron, but he crawled back up just in time for Parker to make the tag. Menard locked Bennett in a Boston Crab, resisting letting go when Taven struck him, but Bennett managed to make his way to the ropes to escape. After Bennett kicks out of a double DDT, Taven slides one of the ROH Tag titles into the ring and pulls Parker to the floor. Menard picks up the title and is caught by referee Rick Knox. Bennett surprises Menard with a roll-up to get the pin at 10:05. That finish came off terribly. Menard simply picked up the title. Perhaps he was going to get rid of it and fight fair, but we’ll never know, because he didn’t do anything with the title before the referee noticed. The match was solid for what it was but far from either team’s best. Like a lot of TK Universe stories and matches, lack of follow up hurts, and as it stands, we’ll never get a follow up to the match’s outcome. **¾

ROH World Television Championship – Best 2 Out Of 3 Falls Match
Kyle Fletcher vs. Lee Johnson
ROH on HonorClub #69 – Youngstown, OH – 6.20.2024
Fletcher has been champion since 12.15.2023 and this is his seventh defense. Johnson lost to Fletcher at Supercard of Honor, but since then has been on a five match winning streak in ROH. He challenged Fletcher to a rematch. Fletcher said he already defeated Johnson twice in the past six months, and Johnson said he could beat Fletcher twice in one night. Fletcher accepted the 2 out of 3 Falls title match to prove himself.
Johnson went for broke right away, taking out Fletcher with a tope con hilo during Fletcher’s entrance, and also landing a crossbody off of the top turnbuckle and to the floor. Johnson sends him crashing into the barricades repeatedly, which Fletcher also does to Johnson after catching him off guard with a flying leg lariat from inside the ring. Fletcher wears down Johnson’s back until Johnson cuts him off with a dropkick to the chest. They go back and forth, with Johnson earning a nearfall after a rolling Death Valley Driver and standing moonsault. He also lands a standing moonsault from the apron and to the floor. However, as he looks to bring Fletcher back into the ring, Fletcher gives him a brainbuster onto the ring apron. Johnson incredibly kicks out from a sit-out powerbomb after the brainbuster. He also fights out of a tombstone, but Fletcher converts into a Lawn Dart and delivers a running gamengiri. Amazingly, Johnson kicks out of a brainbuster. The Ganso Bomb however does him in, giving Fletcher the first fall at 11:49. All the damage to his neck and head to Johnson begins to show its toll on the challenger, with the referee and doctor almost stopping the match because of the daze he is in. Johnson pulls himself together when Fletcher looks for a top rope brainbuster, escaping the move as well as a Lawn Dart. After escaping the Lawn Dart, Johnson O’Connor Rolls Fletcher into a pin, picking up the second fall at 15:31. Fletcher is shocked and angered by Johnson’s comeback. Johnson scores a nearfall with a Code Red. When he gives Fletcher a flying Canadian Destroyer, the momentum sends Fletcher tumbling to the floor. Johnson gives Fletcher no breathing room, hitting an impressive diving sunset bomb to Fletcher on the floor. Fletcher crawls back in the ring and is instantly met with a High Fly Flow and a frog splash to his lower back. Johnson then delivers a frog splash for two. Fletcher shoves Johnson into referee Bryce Remsburg, and while Bryce gains his bearings, Fletcher kicks Johnson in the groin. Fletcher then delivers the top turnbuckle brainbuster for the pin, winning the third and final fall at 20:40. They used all three falls to tell a succinct, fulfilling story of Johnson nearly getting knocked out, fighting from behind, and coming so close to winning the match that the champion had to cut corners to clinch the victory. If ROH had more matches on their weekly show of this quality, a subscription to HonorClub would be easy to justify. As it stands, it’s one of the best ROH matches of the year so far, and I hope Johnson continues to get big opportunities. ****
Also on this episode, Atlantis Jr. from CMLL challenged the winner of the above match to an ROH World TV title match. However, the challenge is for the champion to face him on his home turf of Arena Mexico. Fletcher would accept the challenge on the CMLL Fantastica Mania event the next day.
But first, Fletcher would attempt to become a dual champion:

ROH World Championship
Mark Briscoe vs. Kyle Fletcher
ROH on HonorClub #70 – Allentown, PA – 6.27.2024
Briscoe has been champion since 4.5.2024 and this is his first defense. Fletcher pinned Briscoe in a six man tag team match on the June 12th episode of AEW Dynamite. It isn’t explicitly stated that he earned this title shot that way, but that was enough to earn a shot in the Gabe days, so I’m connecting those dots for my own sake. Although Fletcher wins a shoulder block battle, Briscoe dumps him off the top turnbuckle and to the outside shortly after and follows up with a tope con hilo. When Briscoe looks to get back into the ring, Fletcher cuts him off with a flying leg lariat. Fletcher then gives him a backdrop on the ring apron and a PK before throwing him into and over the barricades. Some redneck kung-fu and a flying forearm puts Briscoe back in control, and he pins the challenger for two with a fisherman’s buster. Briscoe escapes a top turnbuckle brainbuster. He shoves Fletcher stomach-first onto the turnbuckle and then brings him down with a super fisherman’s buster. Fletcher fights back at first, but eventually succumbs to the Cactus elbow. In the ring, Fletcher gets his knees up to block the Gorffy Bow. He then scoops Briscoe up into a tombstone piledriver for two. Briscoe counters a Ganso Bomb with a jackknife pin and then cuts off Fletcher with a rolling Death Valley Driver. Briscoe successfully delivers the Froggy Bow, but only for a count of two. Fletcher superkicks Briscoe in the chin twice. As Fletcher comes off of the ropes, Briscoe turns him inside out with a lariat and then drops him with the Jay Driller for the pin at 13:16. This didn’t have the same drama as Fletcher’s TV title defense against Johnson, mostly because I don’t think anyone believed a title change was possible. Credit to the Allentown crowd, however, who kept the energy high for the entirety of the bout and made it a whole lot of fun to watch despite the obvious result. ***½

ROH World Television Championship
Kyle Fletcher vs. Atlantis Jr.
CMLL Super Viernes – Mexico City, Mexico – 6.28.2024
Fletcher has been champion since 12.15.2023 and this is his seventh defense. Atlantis is in his son’s corner. Fletcher wears down Atlantis Jr’s back after sending him crashing into the barricades with a suicide dive. He also pulls at Atlantis Jr.’s mask and taunts the Arena Mexico crowd. Atlantis gives Fletcher a taste of his own medicine by monkey flipping him across the ring and then sending him back first into the barricades with his own suicide dive. Back in the ring he scores a nearfall with a cazadora, much to the delight of his father. Atlantis Jr. cuts off Fletcher’s up and over by kicking him in the ribs and then rolls up to an Ace Crusher for two. Fletcher pulls Atlantis into a half-nelson suplex to shift the momentum, following up with a Michinoku Driver for two. Their fight for a tombstone piledriver ends with Atlantis getting the better of the exchange. He then muscles Fletcher up into a wheelbarrow German suplex, but when he covers Fletcher, the champ gets his foot on the ropes. Atlantis is able to pull Fletcher off of the middle rope into a spin-out torture rack slam for two. Fletcher meets Atlantis on the entrance ramp and cuts him off with a superkick before dropping him with a brainbuster. He follows that up with a second brainbuster in the ring and is frustrated when it isn’t enough to keep Atlantis down. Atlantis catches Fletcher coming off of the ropes with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. After a second tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, he superkicks Fletcher, who then clotheslines Atlantis to the floor. Fletcher drills him with a PK from the apron and then lands a moonsault off of the top turnbuckle to the floor. Even after that, Atlantis is still able to kick out when Fletcher brings him back in the ring for a Liger Bomb. He decides to try for a top turnbuckle brainbuster, but ends up succumbing to a super Destroyer from Atlantis. Atlantis punctuates that with a frog splash to the back and then another to the chest to win the match and the title at 19:46. You could feel the title change coming in this one. Like Joe with the TV title previously, AEW had Fletcher booked into a corner where he’s become a consistent, valuable asset to the AEW show, but still had an ROH title around their waist. Having him lose the title in another company was a smart move. The match itself was a blast. The crowd loved Atlantis and loved to hate Fletcher. Atlantis wearing down Fletcher’s back, and that resulting in Fletcher growing frustrated and unable to pull off his big offense, was a strong enough story to carry the match. Atlantis’ father beaming at his son during the bout was a really fun touch and made his victory all the more sweet. I hope this gets added to Honor Club, because the ROH fans deserve to see this title change without jumping it through hoops or additional paywalls. ***¾
After the match, Fletcher congratulates Atlantis, but says the only reason he won was because they were in his house. Next time, they compete in Fletcher’s home. Fletcher and Atlantis shake hands as Fletcher stares daggers into the eyes of the new champion.

ROH Pure Championship Proving Ground Match
Wheeler Yuta vs. Lee Moriarty
ROH on HonorClub #71 – Allentown, PA – 7.4.2024
If Moriarty wins this match or lasts the ten minute time limit, he will earn a future Pure Championship match. This is Yuta’s first match back in ROH after a five month absence, sidelined with an undisclosed injury during that period.
The Pure Rules are as follows:
*The competitors are to obey the “Code of Honor”, shaking one another’s hand before and after the match.
*Each wrestler has 3 rope breaks to stop submission holds and pinfalls. After a wrestler has used all 3 of their rope breaks, submission and pin attempts on or under the ropes by the opponent are considered legal.
*Closed-fist punches to the face are not permitted. Overhanded slaps and chops to the face are permitted. Punches to the rest of the body are permitted, excluding low blows. The first use of a closed fist results in a warning. The second use of a closed fist to the face results in a disqualification.
*As this is a Proving Ground match, there is no need for judges in case this goes to a time limit.
Yuta holds onto a cravate for a while, ultimately dropping Moriarty with a DDT. Moriarty kicks Yuta mid-air to block his leapfrog attempt and then dropkicks Yuta in the side of the head. Moriarty uses his body to stretch out Yuta’s arms behind his back, akin to former Pure champion Nigel McGuinness. Moriarty busts out a Mongolian Chop before applying a straightjacket choke. He headbutts Yuta between the shoulder blades while keeping hold of the choke. After failing to escape twice, Yuta rolls behind Moriarty on the mat to not only escape, but then throws hammer and anvil elbows to Moriarty. Moriarty spends his first rope break to escape just as half of the matches ten minute time limit has elapsed. Moriarty cuts off a charging Yuta with a back elbow and uppercut. Yuta mi paso’s Moriarty to the floor and suicide dives after him. In the ring, Yuta gives Moriarty a kneeling German suplex for two. Moriarty comes back with a headscissors takedown into the Border City Stretch. We get a rare instance of Yuta utilizing a rope break to escape the hold. Yuta counters a hip toss into a seatbelt pin attempt, which Moriarty counters back into the Border City Stretch. This time, Yuta cradles Moriarty into a pin, forcing Moriarty to release the hold. The two men then knock each other down with stereo headbutts. Moriarty victory rolls his way out of the Yu-Tap and also scores a nearfall with a European Clutch. They trade pin attempts on the mat as we get to the final minute of the match. They get to their feet when 30 seconds remain and trade forearm shots until the 10:00 time limit expires. Moriarty officially has earned a Pure Title championship match. This was a perfect proving ground match. Moriarty showed he is a capable challenger, which was accentuated by him making Yuta use a rope break, something he has not done often in his reign. They also gave you just enough to have a really fun, engaging match, but not give away the farm. It made me really excited for their title match, which would later be confirmed to be taking place at Death Before Dishonor, and it could very well steal the show. ***¼

ROH World Television Championship
Atlantis Jr. vs. Serpentico
ROH on HonorClub #72 – Southaven, MS – 6.28.2024
Atlantis Jr. has been champions since 6.28.2024 and this is his first defense. This was filmed as a Proving Ground match, but sometime between filming and post production it changed until an actual title defense. Not sure how Serpentico’s 2-15 record would have earned him a TV title match, however. Atlantis ends the quickly paced opening exchange by dropkicking Serpentico to the floor. Serpenetico impresses by bouncing off of the apron and ropes from a headstand position into a headscissors takedown. Atlantis kicks out of a frog splash back in the ring. Just like he did against Fletcher, he kicks Seprentico to cut off his up-and-over, and then rolls up into an Ace Crusher. Serpentico superkicks Atlantis before dropping him with a Complete Shot and jackknife pinning him for two. Atlantis stops him from ascending the ropes and pulls him down into a tree of woe. Atlantis dropkicks Serpentico while he’s upside down. He powerslams Serpentico after evading a corner attack, and then lands a top rope frog splash for the pin at 4:22. This was a fairly spirited match, and despite my issues with him being a title contender, Serpentico does really well against luchadores. Just a fun match. **¼

Roderick Strong vs. Dalton Castle
AEW Collision #53 – Calgary, AB – 7.13.2024
The winner of this match challenges Mark Briscoe for the ROH World Championship at Death Before Dishonor. The Undisputed Kingdom of Matt Taven and Mike Bennett are in Strong’s corner, and The Outrunners of Truth Magnum and Turbo Floyd are in Castle’s corner. The Outrunners do a tremendous job getting Castle fired up when he gets upkicked to the floor. He takes down Strong with an apron assisted headscissors on the floor, but a confrontation between Taven, Bennett, and the Outrunners result in Strong nailing Caslte with a spicy Sick Kick. Strong then gives Castle a backdrop on the barricade, beginning Strong’s assault on Castle’s notoriously shoddy lower back. Castle ends Strong’s offensive stride by blocking a boot and pulling him into a knee capture suplex. Castle gets in a few more supelxes before Strong cuts him off with a backbreaker on the ring apron. Castle ducks a running knee strike and maneuvers Strong into a Bang-A-Rang. Strong evades it and cracks Castle under the chin with a jump-up knee strike for the pin at 10:54. The ending was abrupt, as the three count came off as a mistake and it seemed to take everyone by surprise. It works if you want to tell a story of how suddenly Strong could defeat Mark in their World title match, but for this match it came at a time just when the match was about to kick into the next gear. **½
I was poised to review the Bang Bang Gang vs. Patriarchy match from the July 20th edition of Collision. Because Jay White was injured, they stripped that iteration of the Bang Bang Gang of the titles, and gave the Gunn’s and Juice Robinson a shot at the Patriarchy to determine new Trios champions. The match was no longer for Unified World Trios titles, but rather AEW World Trios Titles. I thought this meant the official death of the ROH Six Man Tag Titles, and was going to review this match as a post mortem of sorts for those belts. But then, they decide to bring back the ROH Six Man Tag Titles and un-unify these titles for no reason at all. One set of useless six man titles was better than two, but now we’re back to status quo.
Nothing too mind blowing happened between Supercard of Honor and Death Before Dishonor, but a title change is always noteworthy. I definitely recommend checking out Bang Bang Gang vs. Death Triangle, Fletcher vs. Johnson, and Fletcher vs. Atlantis.
